Re: [Electric Boats] Re: Any experience or ideas for newbie electric conversion on Newport 16 sailboat?
But I agree with David. The capacity listed for this battery is 40ah:
Can you shed light on this?
If they are only 40ah, then the price is more like $0.80/wh, quite the difference from $0.23/wh for a 138ah capacity. Even with the included CANbus BMS, it's possible to do better assembling one's own pack.

Re: [Electric Boats] Re: Any experience or ideas for newbie electric conversion on Newport 16 sailboat?
That works out to $0.23/wh
Not a bad price at all.
For reference, I paid about $0.40/wh for my Sinopoly LiFePO4 pack, without the BMS. This pack seems to include a CANbus BMS which is a nice feature. A suitable charger can talk to the battery pack and scale back charge current accordingly.
Considering the cycle life in excess of 2000 cycles, 50 cycles on this pack would be a rather good deal, if the capacity is as described. My only concern would be long term storage at 100% capacity which is not good for lithium cells. I discharged my pack to about 60% before hauling out this fall.
I hope this works out for someone.

Matt, what solar panels did you use for your electric sailboat? I am curious about size and mounting of the panels?
Thanks,

[Electric Boats] Wanted: 1 CALB SE100AHA cell in BC, AB or WA
I'd like to finish my LiFePO4 battery pack, but I'm one cell short. Anyone interested in selling a CALB SE or CA series 100AH cell in good or better condition? I can possibly pick up in southern BC, AB (around Christmas) or north-west WA.
(This means my other 3 cells are no longer for sale.)
Curtis
