Re: [Electric Boats] 48v diesel battery charger information

Michel
I am leaning more along the lines of what Electric Yachts is doing by adding the DC motor after the marine gear so it can be used as an electric drive or as a generator when the diesel engine is running.
I have looked a Zena and other ideas for what is the most economical for myself. Eric  and Mark have a lot of perspective input on what works along with many others here.

Subject: [Electric Boats] 48v diesel battery charger information

anyone know of a good set of instructions/equipment list for the components required to build a diesel 48v battery charger....  gonna speak with the Zena folks about this but looking for multiple sources of information/advice.....  so far i am looking at an electric start Hatz diesel and probably a Zena DC generator....  obviously one needs some sort of voltage regulator/intelligent charger and i desire auto start/stop as well....  AmplePower sells a Kubota based unit for about 15k which is a bit over the top i think....  thinking i should be able to do a system for around 5k but have to line it all up....  any advice will be appreciated
