[Electric Boats] New Member says Hi

Hi, I'm Norfolk Broads (UK) based and I have been involved with electric day boats since 1990. For the last four years I have owned "Lucy" a sixteen foot clinker built mahogany day boat. She was built in 1948 and was converted to electric propulsion about twenty years ago.

I will post a picture as soon as I work out how!

Having just replaced Lucy's original 8No six volt traction batteries, it now seems I'm looking to replace her motor. She has a Nelco Nexus 48v DC motor which I'm told is going to cost an arm and a leg to repair/restore. Does anyone know of a good supplier of a similar motor in the UK? I will be looking for a direct coupling to the shaft. I'm not keen on pulleys, belts or gear trains.

I look forward to being inundated by advice!

Dave
