OK, here's my project.
I acquired this boat with some unknowns, one of which turned out to be a cracked block. I bought a Minn Kota 24 volt R160EM trolling motor (actually has two motors)and will attach it to the lower outdrive just above the prop. Minn Kota says this unit will develop 160 lbs of thrust.
I installed 4 Type 29 marine batteries and connected them in two 12volt banks then connected the two banks in series to get 24volts. The rating on the batteries is 125ah each. The 24volt power cord on the motor calls for a 60 amp circuit breaker. I also tapped off of the first battery ground for 12 volts for the boat systems.
I haven't tried her out yet but expect to next week.
Anybody got any good advice?
