$7200!!! I like the idea of regen but, not that much. Though I guess the reality is the market for such a product is limited.  Though if you are spending a million or so for a transocean sailing machine $7200 does not seem like a lot of money. but, to this sailor it is no go. Though I would expect some enterprising person or company will come up with a more economical unit at some point in the future.

Looks like and interesting idea for some of the reasons already posted. You can put the prop in clean flow to one side or another of the keel. You can retract the generator (eliminate the drag) whenever you don't need the power.

Mark, Since you saw it at the show, do you have idea of what one of these units costs? Even if it's a 12V or 24V unit, it will give an idea of what the manufacturing and marketing costs are.
