The Faryman/n (sic) diesel seems to be the flavour of the month at the moment , Nanni are also offering a 7hp marine diesel , based on a Faryman.

I'd suggest if you were thinking of going this route , to do your research , find out what engine it is based on , and then go back and research the original motor.

I haven't recently , but I did a year or so ago.

One interesting thing though , is the spelling of the original engine . I've seen 3 different spellings , for what I presume is the one engine.

Or , is it ?.

As to muffling the exhaust , marine diesels aren't sold with a muffler , they are custom made generally , so perhaps this genset is no different , meant to be custom installed , in boats.

Raw water cooling , I'm not a fan of.

The faryman marine diesel genset on his pages is nice. Raw water cooling though, but dry weight only 130 lbs.

On installation data it says exhaust is on back side. I have never seen an engine without at least a muffler on the exhaust.

Besides I think deck operation helps avoid diesel stink below.

I can not tell from the picture but does not look like it is designed to use an exhaust system. I would not put anything on my boat that needed ventilation to not kill me. But a lot of people here seem to like running generators on there deck.
