| The 48v to 12v bidirectional converter sounds like a good approach to me. I don't like drawing the 12v off one or two of the propulsion batteries for the reasons already listed. It's likely there will be more loads than just the bilge pump, such as navigation and cabin lights, electronics, etc; so IMO a 12v battery to operate them is pretty much a necessity. It could be independently charged from a solar panel, the converter, or a shore-power charger. A possible advantage of the converter is that it might allow you to charge your 48v propulsion batteries with a (probably) less expensive 12v charger, connected to the 12v battery. |
