I agree. I built my 48V 160Ah bank for $3600 including BMS. What I don't have is the cool data port on the front of the Torqeedo battery case. My batteries have a one year warranty.
I find that the Torqeedo power and Mastervolt batteries are priced significantly higher than you can build yourself (4-5X the cost), but I think that they're aiming for a different market segment than the DIY crowd.
