Interesting craft. I don't see where your legs go....do they go straight out? I'm not sure how comfortable this is...it may be a good thing for your back and comfort....I just don't know. Am currentlymrowing something unconventional but is very comfortable, with excellent control/safety while at sea...but no doubt slower than the sea glider I'm sure. My boat also does not come out of a box, so the out of the box feature of the glider is appealing. In whitewater conditions I don't know how much water washes over the bows with the glider. I would love to try one out!

Are trolling motor props a compromise designed as much for cutting weeds as for propulsion? Has anyone tried a small airplane prop on a trolling motor? I read that it works well.

Hi Curtis, thank you for the response.

Check out Newport vessels boat speed/thrust table. They say the higher the thrust the faster the boat goes....unlike Minn-Kota and others who say speed is not tied in with thrust. I don't know how Newport Vessels achieves the varying boat speeds amongst their various thrust choices.....higher rpms? Different blade pitches? Am interested in your experiments...let me know how things go.

[Electric Boats] New member

 

I have a modified 11 foot ocean going rowing rib (Monterey bay) it has two 135 AH lifelines and a Noco Genious and and a 60 pound Newport Vessel trolling motor. It is launched from the mother ship with a crane. Right now she is on shore power but will be at anchor soon, so I would love to optimize with the group...if anyone's interested.
It's fantastic to have an electric boat group...I never would have thought.
