[Electric Boats] Re: Strictly Sail Pacific, Thursday, 07 April 2016

I would like to share my thoughts about the show.  It was very well attended and he new larger location at the Craneway Pavalion was a significant improvement over the much smaller and less organized Jack London Square location of the past.  The San Francisco Bay sailor is very attuned to electric propulsion and there is a strong acceptance for electric propulsion by that sailing community.  I presented two seminars and ElectroProp presented one with good attendance and positive acceptance and acknowledgement by the those who attended.  There was a good representation by electric propulsion vendors with multiple running demo systems and many static displays of motor systems
For improvement, I would have liked to have seen more new boats or broker boats in the marina as that is the real attraction for most of the visitors.
You will see some interviews on the Cruiser TV uTube program in the near future.

RE: [Electric Boats] Re: All ahead full

Granted.
I didn't account for  'shade' when I made my remark.
But when you place the radar dome above the engines the 'shade factor' should be minimal.

What i'm really trying to say:
"What a shame the radar dome is exactly there where i'm going to ..."

regards,

Han.

May I ask what was your decision process behind the Elco? I joined the group (a bit randomly such as yourself) as I plan to convert my sailboat, and motor choice is at the top of the list. I'm considering Thunderstruck but price is really the only reason I'm looking at them.

Tradeoffs:  If you move stuff up, you increase the shading of the solar array on top.  By keeping it where it's at, there's minimal shading.

Hi Albert,

I really think you should build a bracket over the cockpit and move the radar dome and other antennas to that bracket.

Your view would improve so much.

That bracket could also support a sheltered steering position when it rains.

Han.
