Re: [Electric Boats] Wye Island Electric Boat Marathon

Hello Ned,

I was curious as to the results of the Wye Island Challenge Electric Boat Marathon. I have not seen anything on it, no pictures or results. I have followed the race for several years and have been inspired by your accomplishments. I am building a Glen-L Amp Eater 13 ft electric launch and hope to enter next year. I don't expect to win of course but hope to finish in 4-1/2  hours which would be quite enough satisfaction for me.

[Electric Boats] Solar controller

We are installing Two 230W solar panels on the roof of our houseboat.  Can you recommend a solar controller that will handle them?

[Electric Boats] Re: US Sailing Boat Show Annapolia 10/8-12/15

Thanks for the invite Mike and good luck at the show!  Unfortunately I won't be able to make it...  maybe catch you in Maine next year?  Anyway, I know you've been asking for my conversion story for a while and I finally got a website up with some pictures and narrative:

You have my permission to link to this site from the EY website if you'd like.

Enjoy!

[Electric Boats] Re: US Sailing Boat Show Annapolia 10/8-12/15

There will be lots of electric propulsion to see at the Annapolis Sailboat Show! The new J/88 has an Oceanvolt saildrive system. Also, the G4 will be there and it has an Oceanvolt system. You can talk with us at Annapolis Hybrid Marine in Tent D29_30 and see the Oceanvolt equipment up close and talk with the CEO from Finland. We will have the Thoosa systems on display and you may catch one of our owners hanging out at the booth from time to time. Also at our booth, check out the model for the Chesapeake Scrape being built by the Pautauxant Small Craft Guild at the Calvert Marine Museum. This boat will have a Thoosa system and is marrying classic beauty with 21st technology. Annapolis Hybrid Marine, Tent D 29-30. Between Fleet Reserve Club and the old Fawcett Supply building. See you at the show to talk electric propulsion!

As a local, I'll be at the show and will try to stop by.

It's fantastic how far electric has come over the past 10 or so years and it's great to see vendors like you at the shows.

October 8 - 12 will be the US Sailing Boat Show.  This will be the 5th season in which we will be represented and I know there will be several electric propulsion vendors along with several boat builders who are now including electric propulsion as an option for their boats.  This show is the largest sailboat show in North America and well worth attending for any sailor.  I know any vendor would welcome any member of this group and the group would be well served if attendees would report on products and boats they might see.
As a vendor who spends money on engineering and marketing to bring our products to market, we appreciate groups like this who stretch the horizons.  As one of he largest marine user groups with over 6000 readers, you have become a source of knowledge for many who are exploring electric propulsion.  Look us up at "You've Got Power" booth (Tent O30-31).  Once the show begins, I will list the other vendors who may be presenting their products including propulsion, battery, solar and other power generators.

RE: [Electric Boats] US Sailing Boat Show Annapolia 10/8-12/15

Mike,

Look forward to seeing you there.

Since I'm the only guy it seems running a 144V pack soon to be LiFePo4's I will be interested in discussing a new Monitoring System I'm working with Andromeda EVIC with for boats. Their products have been used for cars and now we will have an option for our systems as well. I'm really excited about it and will be looking forward to your comments.
