Does anyone know of a source for 48 volt alternators?
There is a plan for using a small gas motor and a 12-volt alternator for 12-volt battery charging. I would like to build something similar for 48-volt charging.
I can find 12, 24 and 36, but not 48.
Hello All,
I am new to the group and have been surfing through the posts and wanted to see if I could get some help with my setup. I have a 14ft runabout with a 5 1/2 ft beam. I am not looking to make it a speed boat or anything I just want to cruise around at 5-6 mph on our local lake without all the noise. Its an old 1964 model boat and the outboard is doa. I am looking for cheapest possible solution right now and with time may upgrade to an inboard system later. Will a 50+ thrust trolling motor push the boat that speed? Does adding a second motor help?

The delay is designed in, it isn't a problem as such. It's to stop the
EV people from killing motors/controllers/
forward moving vehicle into reverse. It really does put a lot of stress
on the system doing this.
(I'm learning to drive vintage trams at the moment - '3rd emergency'
is to throw the thing into reverse - after doing so the tram is to be
driven at low speed straight back to the depot for inspection!)
However this interlock isn't so appropriate for a boating application
where the propeller will cavitate instead of snapping something.

I believe the MARS controller (the current one) also solves this problem - but cannot personally verify. Buying that would give you the benefit of being able to use your existing harness and keep your old controller as an emergency spare.
